Why a VTuber model usually costs money.
Worth knowing, so you can judge what you give up. A full VTuber model means paid artwork, paid rigging and a tracking setup to run it — and then the upkeep.
The artwork
Drawn as a stack of separate parts — each eye, each lock of hair, the mouth shapes — so they can move on their own. Far more work than one illustration.
The rigging
Someone sets those parts up in software like Live2D so the face turns and the hair sways. A specialist job that often costs as much as the art.
The tracking
A webcam and an app that read your face and drive the model live. Free apps exist, but they want a decent machine and good lighting.
The upkeep
New outfits, new expressions and seasonal versions are more commissions. In practice a model keeps costing, even if you paid once.
A voice-driven VTuber needs none of the first three: the AI does the drawing, the frames need no rig and your mic stands in for the tracking. The fourth gets cheaper too — once you have bought credits, new expressions are added to the same character in the generator. And if you later want the full rig, nothing here is wasted: you can commission a model of the same character once your channel is earning.

Is this VTuber maker really free?
Starting is free. Signing up adds 200 credits with no card — enough for your first round of 4 VTuber designs at full quality, with no watermark; they expire 30 days after you sign up. On an account that has never bought credits, the character you pick is then drawn into its talking and blinking frames and shown as a free, watermarked preview. Keeping those frames takes 120 credits, 40 more than the sign-up credits leave, so it needs a pack: a first purchase within 48 hours of your first preview is $3.99 for 400 credits, and after that the Starter pack is $9.90, about $2.38 per finished character. Every cost is on the button before anything is spent, and a failed generation is refunded automatically.
Does this VTuber maker track my face?
No. Your VTuber follows your voice instead of your face: the mouth opens when you talk and the eyes blink on their own. There is no camera, no tracking app and nothing to calibrate: your microphone is the only input.
Can I use it in VTube Studio?
Not as a model. VTube Studio loads Live2D models, and what you make here is a set of transparent PNG frames. Add them to OBS with the link the generator gives you, or load the files into a free PNGTuber app such as veadotube mini.
Do I need to download or install anything?
No. You do everything up to the talking preview on this website, in your browser. To go live you need OBS (free, version 28 or newer), where the generator's link makes your VTuber talk. In Streamlabs, load the files into a free PNGTuber app such as veadotube mini and capture its window instead.
Can I start from my own drawing or a photo?
Yes. Add a reference image in the generator — a selfie, a sketch or an old avatar — and the AI draws your VTuber from it. Choose “Inspired by it” to keep only the general look, or “Keep the likeness” to hold the face, hair and colors close. Uploading needs an account, and your image goes to our AI image provider to make the designs, so only upload pictures you have the right to use. Remove it at any time and we delete the file.
Can I use my VTuber avatar on a monetized channel?
Yes. The character is yours to stream with on monetized Twitch and YouTube channels, and to use in sponsored videos, on merch or as your profile picture. You do not have to credit us.
What is the difference between a VTuber and a PNGTuber?
A VTuber usually means a rigged Live2D or 3D model driven by face tracking; a PNGTuber is a set of pictures driven by your voice. What you make here is the second kind, drawn in a VTuber style. The PNGTuber vs VTuber page compares cost and effort in detail.
Can I switch to a Live2D model later?
Yes. Keep the character design the same and your audience will recognize it right away when you switch.
